English Language Proficiency Tests
Most applicants from countries where English is not the official language must submit scores of an English language proficiency test.
To fulfill this requirement, the Bloomberg School will accept scores from either the or
ETS institution code for SOPHAS applicants is 5688. MYBest Scores will not be accepted. If applicants test more than once, they are encouraged to submit all test results.
乐动体育开户All applicants submit IELTS scores directly to the Bloomberg School's Admission Services. A copy of your score report may be emailed to email@example.com.
Minimum Score - 7
Admissions will waive this requirement for degree applicants only if:
- a student has completed a four-year degree from an accredited U.S. institution (student must have completed all four years in the US)
- a student is from a country listed on our quick reference list
Be aware of application deadlines. If you're required to take an English language proficiency test, please make sure you do so well before your application is due. Your application will not be reviewed until all materials are received and may be withdrawn if still incomplete after the application deadline.
International Academic Records. It is required that all post-secondary work from outside the U.S. or English-speaking Canada is evaluated. When selecting the type of evaluation, please select the WES iCAP Course by Course Evaluation. (Canadian WES evaluations will not be accepted.) This type of evaluation is required by SOPHAS and the School of Public Health. SOPHAS strongly encourages applicants to first create the SOPHAS application. Once you have your 10 digit SOPHAS ID, you are able to use the .
WES also offers a for students having records evaluated for the SOPHAS application.
Admissions Services will accept evaluations from other credentialing agencies with prior approval from our office. Should any problems arise while obtaining the course by course credential evaluations, please contact the Admissions Services office.
Records from English-speaking Canada
乐动体育开户If you received a degree from a college or university in English-speaking Canada, please have your institution submit transcripts directly to SOPHAS.
Be aware of application deadlines. If you're required to have your academic records evaluated, we strongly encourage you to start this process as early as possible. It can be a lengthy process and our programs WILL NOT review your application without evaluated international academic records. Credentials evaluations, as with all application requirements, are due by the application deadline.
Student Visas will contact admitted international degree students who have completed their enrollment form in the spring. Additional instructions will be provided then.
Certificate programs do NOT qualify for visa sponsorship. Most international students are advised to consider certificate programs that can be completed online from their country of residence. Legal Permanent Residents and non-immigrants who are otherwise physically present in the US and in a status that allows for study may be eligible to pursue a certificate program in person at the Bloomberg School.
